How to convert your existing phone system recordings

Post by Stephen »

How to convert your existing phone system recordings from other platforms to be compatible with Allworx courtesy of Jeff Crystal.

This method has been tested to work with recordings made on an Asterisk based PBX system, but should work equally well with almost any audio format known to man.

Install a copy of SoX audio conversion software. This application is included by default on most Linux distributions, or can be found here:

http://sox.sourceforge.net/ for installation on Windows.

From the command line, run SoX to convert each recording file as follows:

Sox –V <input file> -r 8000 –c 1 –G –b 8 –e mu-law –t raw <output file.ulaw>

Once you have all of your recordings converted, you can rename them (aaxx.snd etc.) and upload them to the prompts folder as usual.
